Clinical Summary
21-year-old woman with a history of epilepsy since age two and scoliosis status-post surgery presented to Windsor Regional Hospital (WRH) with symptoms of headache and double vision for one month. Imaging revealed intraventricular tumours (Image 1). She underwent tumour resection, and histopathological workup was performed at WRH and London Health Sciences Centre (H&E Slide 1). Nine years later, she presented again with symptoms of elevated intracranial pressure and the imaging findings in Image 2. Tumour resection was performed (H&E Slide 2).
Discussion points
- What are the major histological findings? In the first tumour? In the second tumour?
- Differential diagnosis for each tumour?
- What ancillary testing would be most informative of the diagnosis?
Reveal Diagnosis
- Tumour resection 2017: Subependymal giant cell astrocytoma (SEGA)
- Tumour resection 2026: Diffuse pediatric-type high grade glioma, RTK1 subtype
